About Laura Lima

Are you a busy mom of little(s)? If so, I bet you love your kid(s) more than you ever thought you would… and yet perhaps you’re wondering why you still don’t feel 100. Maybe you wish you had more enthusiasm for playtime, or keeping the house tidy, but you just can’t seem to find the energy (ever).

You have all these plans to meal prep, cook healthy foods, and feed your body the best nutrients ever… but all that goes out the window by 11am because you’re Just. Too. Tired. You might even wonder if you’re ever going to feel like you again – the one who is vibrant, full of life, and in control. Where did she go?!

If this is you, mama, don’t worry; you’re in the right place… and you are not alone!

That’s Why I Created NewMamaNation.com

As a nutritionist, I knew I needed to feed my body the right foods, especially during that new mom (and heck, now as a toddler mom) time of providing constant care for my babe. And yet, I found myself slipping into the protein bar routine – read: having one as my go-to source of nutrition any time of day (or night). I mean, it was fast, easy, and… always there!

I knew, without a doubt, that this was not the proper way to feed my body, especially during that crucial postpartum time of healing and recovery. So, I took my knowledge of nutrition and dove deep into discovering just how to find the time to feed my body right. (Hint: It’s less of “finding” the time and more of “making” it. *wink*)

Not only was I not feeding my body right, but I was experiencing the negative effects of the lack of proper nourishment… the fatigue, the low energy, and the just… blah feeling. No, thank you.

Since I was going through that struggle, even though I KNEW I needed to do better, I figured there had to be other mamas out there feeling the same way. And since I figured out a way that worked for me, I want to help others get through it, too.

I graduated from the Institute of Holistic Nutrition in 2007, and I’ve had an incessant passion for helping others feel better since then. And beyond that, I want them to realize how much better they can feel simply by switching up their food intake. My passion for helping mamas developed throughout my first pregnancy, continued with the birth of my first daughter, Ellie, and gets stronger every day. I now have three babes – Ellie, 6, Maggie, 4, and Ben, 2… and I have one more brewing in my belly and expected to arrive in spring 2025!
