Do you love chocolate milk?
Me too. But I don’t drink it. Well, not the stuff you buy in stores, anyway. It’s full of sugar, thickeners, and preservatives. Those are better left on the grocery store shelf.
I make my own. And, the one I make is actually a nutritious smoothie, so it counts as a full meal.
But it tastes like chocolate milk. Promise.
Before we get to that recipe, I want to give you an update on my client Larry, whose story we’ve been following for a few months now. Watch the video below for that, as well as a rundown on how to prepare the Chocolate Milk Smoothie. To watch Larry’s story from the beginning, click here.
Chocolate Milk Smoothie
1.5 cups water
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
2 Tbsp Mineral Matrix (dehydrated goat whey) – Jan 2022 update: This product is no longer available (unfortunately!!), and I haven’t been able to source something similar. But I didn’t want to remove it from the recipe, just in case. 🙂
1 heaping Tbsp cacao powder
1 Tbsp coconut oil*
15 drops liquid stevia
3 egg yolks (grass fed/pastured eggs are the best)
3 ice cubes (optional)
Blend it all up in a blender just until mixed and it’s good to go.
*If you don’t have a high-speed blender (ex: Vita-Mix), then melt the coconut oil on the stove before adding it to the blender. Blend all ingredients before adding the ice cubes, then blend again. You can also just drop a few ice cubes into your glass after it’s made rather than blending them in. Wow… I just said “blend” in some form or other seven times in one paragraph. Now eight.
Whip up some of your own and enjoy for breakfast (or any other meal)… or whenever you get a craving for chocolate milk. Write a comment below to let me know what you think!
P.S. Let’s keep cheering Larry on… he is doing fantastic! Feel free to comment below with some words of encouragement. 🙂
Hey Laura!! Thanks for the recipe. I really can’t wait to try it. Do you think this recipe will be fine for a few days in the fridge if I make a large batch?
Congrats Larry!
You’re very welcome! It will definitely last up to three days in the fridge… you’ll just have to shake it up before pouring, as usual with a smoothie! 🙂
