My friends. If you know me, you know I love me a green tea latte. And what I especially love is making it myself, so I know exactly what’s going in it, and I can make it to my taste.

And, in honour of the last official full day of summer (I feel for you if you’re shedding a tear, but fall is my favourite, so I’m one happy camper), I figured I would make this particular green tea latte… iced.

Interestingly, you’ll notice that I don’t actually add ice to mine, but that’s because I don’t want it watered down. But, I’ve given you the option below because I want you to enjoy the heck out of this.

The “green tea” part of this is matcha green tea powder, which is a powerhouse that deserves a quick shout out. Since it’s in a powder form, you’re actually consuming the leaves of the green tea, rather than diluting them as you would with a tea bag, and then getting rid of them. Because of this, you get about 10x the antioxidant and energy power of a regular cup o’ green tea. Matcha is a particularly great source of the amino acid called L-theanine, which helps us feel calm and focused. So, even though matcha contains caffeine (which can give an energy boost for sure), the L-theanine helps prevent the jittery, stimulant effect that one can get from, say, coffee. In fact, I like to say that matcha provides focused, calm energy. Oxymoron or not, it’s the truth. When you need a mental and/or physical boost, matcha might just be your superstar.

If you like this recipe, um, “like” it, and if you love it, share it! 😀

Iced Green Tea Latte

1.5 cups unsweetened almond milk (I used the French vanilla flavour)
1.5 cups water
1 tsp matcha green tea powder
10-15 drops liquid French vanilla stevia (I used the NOW brand)
1-3 ice cubes (optional)

Combine all ingredients in a blender, and blend briefly. Even though it’s super easy and fast, you can make it the night before and store it in the fridge. Because let’s face it, the more sleep minutes we can get, the better, am I right?
