We talked a few days ago about roadblocks and how much they suck, but most importantly, how to overcome them. As mentioned, the one and only person in charge of your health and your body is YOU. This is of utmost importance, and something that people tend to forget when confronted with sugary snacks and tempting treats. The Sugar People are not in charge, folks, you are!
However, beyond that, it is so helpful to have support from others, people to whom you are accountable; this is what I like to call the buddy system. Because let’s face it, we tend to give in to temptation more often and get a little more lax on the exercise when there’s no one there watching. When you’ve got someone there to encourage you to go for that walk, or even better, walk with you, you’re much more likely to do it. We all need that little coach once in a while to steer us back in the right direction.
So find your buddy (or buddies) today! Could be a sister, brother, boyfriend, girlfriend, cousin, friend, nutritionist 🙂 (yes, I am always here to help), daughter, son, parent, long-lost relative… okay, that wouldn’t work very well. Anyway, you get the point. Ask them if they are willing to take on the task of encouraging and supporting you, while helping you keep yourself healthy. Or better yet, decide that you will be each other’s buddy. You could even form a group, large or small, and have multiple people you can count on.
The choice is yours. The options are endless. Choose yours today and get on it, sister (or brother). The healthy life should be full of happiness, health (duh), and fun, so go enjoy it!
